Hanway (Jonas, merchant and politician, bap. 1712, d. 1786) Autograph Letter signed to Sir Joseph Banks, 1p., folio, Red Lion Square, London, 3rd April 1782, hailing Banks "as a friend to Mankind", probably in response to information received from Banks on Hanway's, Proposal for County Naval Free Schools to be built on waste lands, folds, browned, left hand margin slightly torn affecting a few letters.
