Waugh (Evelyn) Autograph letter signed to Lord Hastings, 1p., 180x135m., on monogrammed paper, [c.1929], thanking him for the loan of books on Selina, Countess of Huntingdon, folds.
⁂ "What an astonishing woman!"
Accompanying this letter is a typed, signed note from Selina Hastings, the recipient's daughter and Waugh's biographer explaining the context: Waugh was at the time writing Vile bodies and wished to make a comic reference to their famous ancestor, to which end Lord Hastings loaned him a two volume biography.
