Goldsmith (Oliver) The Deserted Village, a Poem, first edition, title with engraved vignette, lacking half-title, final leaf with last page number neatly repaired, the odd spot or mark, slight cracking to upper hinge, else a clean and bright copy, handsomely bound in later green morocco by W. Pratt, Britwell Court copy with gilt floral borders and central arms to covers, spine gilt, spine browned, g.e., [Rothschild 1033], 4to, Printed for W. Griffin, at Garrick's Head, in Catharine-street. Strand, 1770.

⁂ Provenance: This volume originates from the Christie-Miller family library at Britwell Court and retains the original cataloguing slip loosely inserted. It was sold as part of "The Property of the Trustees of the Late S. R. Christie-Miller, Esq" sale conducted by Sotheby's in 1971, where it was offered as Lot 181. Several pencil annotations appear on the front free endpapers, including “9. E.” and “87. F. 15,” which may relate to acquisition or inventory details.
