⁂ 'A monsieur Arthur Ransome, en hommage Anatole France janvier 1911'.
A fantastic association copy. Arthur Ransome (1884-1967) admired Anatole France and wrote critically about French literature. In 1913 Ransome published 'Portraits and Speculations' which includes an essay on Anatole France. Ransome spent time in Paris in the early 1900s and moved in literary circles. It is possible that he encountered France socially but no documented meeting or correspondence is known.
