Doyle (Sir Arthur Conan).- Theatre Royal Chatham.- Two London theatre posters for Doyle and Gillette's Sherlock Holmes, lithograph posters printed in colours, on thin wove papers, each sheet 760 x 505 mm (29 7/8 x 19 7/8 in), unbacked, a few short tears to edges neatly repaired, minor handling creases, some surface dirt, unframed, [after 1901] (2)
⁂ A pair of rare posters for William Gillette's play based on A Scandal in Bohemia and The Final Problem. The production, with Gillette in the title role, was extremely successful beginning in America in 1899 before transferring to London and then for a season at the Lyceum in 1901 before going on tour.
