Butterflies.- Seitz (Adalbert, editor) Les Macrolépidoptères du Globe, 20 vol. in 27, 1,364 chromolithograph plates, vol. 9 list of plates loose, 2 vol. with text completed in English or German, a few plates and text with marginal repairs, slight fraying to few text ff. in portfolios, the odd ink corrections to plate captions and text (a few tipped-in to 1 or 2 vol.), occasional light browning to text, 1 vol. upper hinge broken, 21 vol. in contemporary morocco-backed boards, light rubbing, 6 vol. loose in portfolios, 4to, Stuttgart, 1911-45.
⁂ A fine complete copy and, in some ways, a supernumerary copy of the rare French edition of Seitz' 'Die Gross-Schmetterlinge der Erde'. The German and English editions were both published by Kerner Verlag in Stuttgart. Due to the Second World War some volumes remained incomplete. The French edition is the least complete edition.
