⁂ Both works were issued in a small number of copies. Yarrell (1784-1856) is better known for his History of British Fishes and History of British Birds. Francis Day (1829-1889) was one of the leading ichthyologists in England. He extensively wrote on Indian fishes and spent many years on the Malabar Coast. The fine plates are by Miss F. Woolward made after drawings by the author.
