⁂ An interesting and varied collection, mainly of trials of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. These include: the trial of the self-styled Duchess of Kingston who secretly married Hon. Augustus John Hervey in 1744 before soon separating, and 20 years later bigamously married the Duke of Kingston; the trial of Mary Blandy who poisoned her father with arsenic, yet claimed she believed it to be a "love potion" that would make her father approve of her relationship with William Henry Cranstoun; and, the trial of Lawrence Shelby, 4th Earl Ferrers who was the last Peer of the Realm to be hanged in England.
