Fossils.- Brander (Gustav) Fossilia Hantoniensia collecta, et in Musæo Britannico deposita, first edition, engraved title vignette and 9 plates (plate 9 neatly laid down), 5pp. manuscript titled 'Hampshire Fossils' tipped in at front free endpaper, Frederick Ricardo bookplate, contemporary half calf, rebacked, black label to spine, rubbed, [ESTC T40065; Nissen ZBI 535], 4to, 1766.
⁂ "In 1765 Gustavus Brander (1720-1787), a prosperous London merchant of Swedish parentage, with a country residence at Christchurch, Hampshire, gave the Museum a collection of fossils, mostly molluscs from the Hampshire cliffs. Daniel Solander (1733-1782) described them in his 'Fossila Hantoniensia...' (Stearn, The Natural History Museum at South Kensington, p.226).
