⁂ Rare pre-Linnaean flora, describing plants of Constantinople and the Orient. "The author was a German botanist who accompanied Count Romanov on a mission to Constantinople, traveled extensively in Asia Minor, and was later summoned to St. Peterburg by Peter the Great. This is the first edition of this work which is generally regarded as giving the first descriptions of the plants of the coastal lands of the Black Sea, Asia Minor and Armenia." (Johnston 661).
