De Conchis minus notis liber, first edition, woodcut title vignette, 5 engraved folding plates, [Nissen ZBI 356], Venice, John Baptist Pasquali, 1739 bound with De Monstris ac Monstrosis first edition, woodcut title vignette, 3 engraved folding plates, [Nissen ZBI 357], Venice, John Baptist Pasquali, 1749 bound with Colonna (Fabio) Phytobasanos cui accessit..., second edition, engraved title vignette and 38 plates, [Nissen BBI 386], Florence, I.P.Aere, and Typis. Petri Caietani Viviani, 1744, together 3 works in 1 vol. stain and abrasion to head of titles (?removal of ink ownership), contemporary vellum, gilt spine, spine ends bumped, a few wormholes to joints and spine, 4to.
⁂ The second work is the first edition and a study of zoological and botanical deformations. The third work is the second edition of Colonna's famous work, first published in 1592 and edited by Plancus. The first edition of the 'Phytobasanos' was the first botanical work with etched plates. The plates were by the author Fabio Colonna, an Italian laywer scientist (1567-1650). He was a distinguished botanist and is credited with the discovery of about 80 new plants.
