Door een gezelschap geleerden, first edition, engraved title and 53 plates, all finely hand-coloured, Henry Rogers Broughton bookplate, contemporary half calf, gilt spine with red morocco label, skilful repairs to joints, [Hunt 733; Nissen BBI 2219], 4to, Amsterdam, J.B. Elwe, 1794.
⁂ A fine copy of one of the rarest and most attractive Dutch flower books. The list of subscribers mentions 66 names only. This work "is a symbol and representation of the ascendancy of the Dutch nurseryman... At the same time it takes a backward glance at the art of the gardener and of the flower-painter of a century and a half earlier, the golden age of Tulipomania." (Hunt 733).
