Herbal.- Dodoens (Rembert) Histoire des Plantes, first French edition, c.800 woodcut illustrations in text, old stamp on title and large stain at foot affecting border and with loss of text on verso, 2 leaves with old repair at inner margin, small wormhole at Qq1-6 gutter, 18th-century red morocco, gilt, slightly rubbed, g.e., [Nissen BBI 510; Stafleu & Cowan 1483], small folio, Antwerp, de l'Imprimerie de Jean Loë, 1557.
⁂ A splendid copy of the first, and only, French edition of Dodoen's 'Cruydeboeck', first published in 1554. Many of the woodcuts were copies of the 8vo edition of Fuchs' herbal.
