⁂ James Barbut (fl.1776-1799) was a British naturalist and painter. He exhibited paintings at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. The original drawings for the above work were purchased by the Natural History Museum in London in 2000. The delicately hand-coloured plates depict 299 insects.
