Botany.- Asia.- Blume (Carl Ludwig) Flora Javæ nec non Insularum Adjacentium, 10 parts, lithograph frontispiece and 238 lithograph plates, of which 224 are finely hand-coloured (some double-page), without the 23 'Planches inédites' published posthumously between 1862-97, some foxing and slight staining, mostly confined to text, loose as issued, original wrappers, rebacked, some repaired, 'Monsieur Decaisne de la part de C.L. Blume' ink inscription to 1 upper wrapper, edges uncut, preserved in modern red morocco-backed drop-back boxes, housed in red cloth slip-case, [Nissen BBI 174; Stafleu & Cowan 563], folio, Brussels, 1828-51.

It is the only major work on the flora of the Dutch East Indies of the 19th century. Karl Ludwig Blume (1796-1862) was a German born Dutch botanist who travelled and worked in Java where he was the first director of the Buitenzorg Botanic Garden and later became director of the Leiden Rijksherbarium.
