Beetles.- Dejean (Le Comte) Species Général des Coléoptères de la collection, 5 vol. only (of 6), A.L.s by the author to [Jean Baptiste Alphonse Déchauffour de] Boisduval dated 30 November 1834 bound into vol.1, vol.1 half-title loose, light foxing and water-staining with slight cockling, contemporary calf-backed boards, gilt spines a little faded, joints beginning to split, extremities a little rubbed, [Horn-Schenkling 4601; not in Nissen ZBI], 8vo, Paris, 1825-31.
⁂ Rare, we can trace no record at auction in the past 60 years. Volume 6 was published in 1838 by C.Aube; the set is usually without the 6th volume.
Jean Baptiste Alphonse Déchauffour de Boisduval was the curator of Dejean's collection of beetles; by 1837 Dejean listed 22,399 species in his cabinets, which was the largest collection in world at the time.
