Botany.- Redouté (P.J. & H.J.).- Desfontaines (Rene Louiche) Flora Atlantica, sive Historia Plantarum, 2 vol. bound in 4, first edition, Stafleu's second issue, half-titles, 263 engraved plates after P.J. and H. J. Redouté and Marechal and others, occasional foxing, occasional pencil annotations to text vol., Henry Rogers Broughton's bookplate to front pastedowns, handsomely bound in modern burgundy half morocco by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, gilt, edges uncut, [Nissen, BBI 475; Stafleu & Cowan 1392], 4to, Paris, typis C. Panckoucke, 1799-1800.
⁂ A beautifully bound copy of this important flora of North-West Africa illustrated by the best artists of the period. The described plant species were collected by the author during a journey in Algeria and Tunisia during the years 1783-1785. The herbarium of 1,480 specimens was left to the 'Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle' Paris and is now kept as an 'Herbier Historique'.
