⁂ Carew's Survey was first published in 1602, followed by editions in 1723 and, the edition here, in 1769. The annotations are probably associated with Rev. John Whitaker and/or Davies Gilbert when preparing their own parish and church histories in the late 18th and early 19th centuries respectively. There are similar indications of "C. 9" etc. in volumes associated with one or other (or both) of these two gentlemen at Kresen Kernow in Redruth and the Royal Institution of Cornwall in Truro.
