*** Three of the sketches, all with printer’s pencil marks or annotations, were used in the 1877 first edition published by Griffith and Farran with the illustrations engraved by her father John. One (number 6) is an unused but very similar sketch to the published illustration (number 5); numbers 2, 4 and 7 are original designs not used in the final publication.
