Egypt.- Pettigrew (Thomas Joseph ) A History of Egyptian Mummies, first edition, lacking half-title, list of subscribers, 13 engraved or lithographed plates, 4 hand-coloured, 2 heightened with gold, errata leaf, off-setting, light foxing to some plates, contemporary half morocco, spine gilt, t.e.g., rubbed and faded, [Cohn 644], 4to, Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown, Green, 1834.
⁂ Ten of the thirteen plates are by George Cruikshank and the one of beetles by J.O. Westwood. Pettigrew was a surgeon and antiquary who conducted researches into medical history and biography and contributed to archaeological journals.
