Japan.- Photograph Album, 50 hand-coloured albumen prints, comprising views of Yokohama, Tokyo, Enoshima, Oyama, Hakone, Nikko, Osaka, Kyoto, Nagasaki, and others, each c.205 x 255mm., pasted on 25 stiff card leaves, most captioned in the negative, a few beneath by hand in pencil, ink gift inscription to front free endpaper dated Geelong 1900, some abrasion to first and final mounts, some foxing, mainly to mounts, contemporary roan-backed brown lacquer covers, upper cover with scene of woman in a rickshaw in front of Mount Fuji, the faces and limbs of the woman and rickshaw puller of onlaid carved bone pieces, small chip to spine head, short crack to head of upper cover, few scratches, wear to corners, upper joint split but holding firm, still overall very good, preserved in a contemporary patterned cloth box with 2 protective patterned cushions (some panels defective or with stitched repairs to joints), oblong 4to, g.e., [c.1890]
