Fazakerley, binders of Liverpool.- Fore-edge paintings.- Byron (George Gordon Noel, Lord) Childe Harold's Pilgrimage. A Romaunt, engraved portrait, additional vignette title, folding map and vignettes to text by Finden, with loosely-inserted A.L.s. from William W. Allis of Milwaukee dated May 7th 1903 presenting the volume as a wedding present to a "Miss Anderson", small book-label of Dorothy Jayne Pedrini Shea, bound in magnificent crushed dark green morocco elaborately tooled in gilt, by Fazakerley of Liverpool, covers with border of gilt fillets and onlaid narrow strip of dark red morocco surrounding title and flowers with swirling leafy tendrils and small dots in gilt to upper cover, and smaller similar panel to lower, spine with title and similar floral tooling in gilt, turn-ins with gilt floral border and gilt fillets and onlaid red strip, ivory silk moiré doublures and endpapers, ornate gilt gauffered edges with three watercolour vignettes in arabesques to fore-edge of a sailing boat with lighthouse, the Doge's palace in Venice, and a castle on a mountain lake, signed at foot of front turn-in, preserved in modern cloth drop-back box, morocco label to spine, 8vo (binding c.240 x 155mm.), John Murray, 1841.
