Fore-edge paintings.- Cowper (William) The Poetical Works, edited by John Bruce, 3 vol., engraved portrait, contemporary tan roan with triple fillet in blind, by Maclehose of Glasgow, spines titled in gilt, g.e., fore-edges painted in watercolour by Steven St.Clair Smallwood depicting Stoke Poges Church and the "ivy mantled tower", Windsor Castle and Eton College, each with ink manuscript note by Smallwood dated "VIII/MMVI" to rear free endpaper, very slightly rubbed at edges, 1867 § Binyon (Laurence) Poems, number 193 of 200 copies, occasional spotting, modern dark blue morocco with single gilt fillet and ornamental roll-tool border in blind, spine gilt in compartments with floral ornament and five raised bands, original printed grey wrapper bound in (lightly spotted, with modern book-label of J.O.Edwards to verso), uncut, cloth slip-case, Oxford, Daniel Press, 1895, 8vo & 4to (4)
