Insects.- Albin (Eleazar) A Natural History of English Insects...[with] Large Notes and many curious Observations by W[illiam] Derham, fifth edition, with Derham's notes and index but without list of subscribers (as often), 100 hand-coloured engraved plates after Albin, plate 84 heightened with gold, each dedicated to a specific subscriber at foot, engraved armorial bookplate with interlocked initials "AH", title lightly browned, occasional light foxing and soiling, offsetting, contemporary calf, sympathetically rebacked with morocco spine label laid down, corners repaired, light wear in places, [Lisney 123; Nissen ZBI 58], 4to, [William Bowyer] for William Innys, 1749.

⁂ Important work on British entomology, first published in 1720, with notes by William Derham, best known for his Artificial Clockmaker of 1696. ESTC notes that according to the records of the printer William Bowyer only 150 copies were printed. In this copy, the often lacking 26pp. Dernham's notes is preceded by a title-page dated 1724 and dedication/To the Reader f., and with index f. at end.
