Against the misuse of excommunication.- Wurm (Matthias) Balaams eselin von dem bann das er umb geldtschuld und andre geringe sachen nit mag Christlich gefelt werden, collation: a-k4, title with half-page woodcut of Balaam on his donkey and a sword-wielding angel, woodcut decorative initials, occasional early ink marginalia and underlining, washed, neat marginal repairs, (including title), mostly to small wormhole(s) in outer margin, browned crushed morocco, by Hans Asper, spine in compartments and titled in gilt, spine faded, little marked, t.e.g., small 4to (201 x 141mm.), [Augsburg], [Heinrich von Augsburg Steiner], 1523.

⁂ Against the use of the ban (a form of excommunication) to punish minor offences, including debt. Wurm likens himself to the donkey of the prophet Balaam, who tried to turn his master away from the wrong path.
