Plinius Secundus (Gaius) The Historie of the World: Commonly called, The Naturall Historie of C. Plinius Secundus, 2 vol., translated by Philemon Holland, titles with first word xylographic and large woodcut device, woodcut head- & tail-pieces and initials, vol. 2 with final "advertisement" f. (small chip to lower-margin), lacking initial and final blanks, vol. 1 title with early ownership name, vol. 1 with small worming within text of first half (generally few small holes, slightly larger worm traces to Sig. F-H), vol. 1 2E1-2 & 3B4 small hole affecting few letters, title to vol. 2 with tiny marginal rust-hole, vol. 2 2H3 tear into text without loss, the occasional stain, including some light water-staining to head (mainly to vol. 1 near start), trimmed at fore-edge into printed side-notes and sometimes pagination, some light foxing and browning, 18th century marbled calf, spines gilt and with double red leather labels, spines quite worn in places with portion of loss to vol. 2, rubbed and scuffed elsewhere, [STC 20030a], folio, Adam Islip, and are to be sold by John Grismond, 1635-34.
⁂ A reissue of the second edition in English of 1634 (STC 20030), with a different setting of the title page to vol. 1, adding Grismond's name in the imprint; the title page to vol. 2 is that of the 1634 edition.
