Linguistics.- Minsheu (John) Hegemon eis tas Glossas [graece], id est Ductor in Linguas, The Guide Into Tongues, 2 parts in 1, first edition, title within decorative woodcut border, woodcut head- & tail-pieces and initials, text in double or quadruple column, with the rare list of subscribers f. "Catalogue and true Note of the Names of such Persons, which...haue receiued the Etymologicall Dictionarie of Xi. Languages..." inserted before A1 (trimmed at head affecting ornamental border and headline to verso), K5 & 2C4 short tear into text without loss, few marginal paper-flaws to Sig. 2T, affecting pagination to 2T5, few printed side-notes shaved, some worming to head of gutter from Sig. 2N to end of first part but no text loss, some light water-staining to first and last few ff., occasional spotting to second part, the odd small stain, lightly browned, contemporary calf, neatly rebacked, covers with central gilt lozenge, corners worn, [STC 17944], folio, [William Stansby] for John Browne, 1617.
