The Life and Death of Sir Thomas Moore Lord high Chancellour of England, first edition, woodcut initials, head- and tail-pieces, ownership inscriptions to title including one trimmed to head dated June 1639, blank leaf inserted following title with ink note in a 19th century hand, 2M2 tiny rust-hole within text, the odd spot, some very light browning, else a very good copy, 19th century straight-grain blue morocco, tooled in gilt and blind, spine and fore-edge little faded, some rubbing to joints and extremities, g.e., [STC 18066], small 4to, [B. Belliere], [Douai], [?1631].
⁂ A good copy of this scarce biography of More, written by his great grandson and dedicated to Queen Henrietta Maria.
Provenance: "J.C." (early ink initials to title); R. Burroughes (ownership name to title); Mathew Wilson (armorial bookplate); Frances Mary Richardson Currer (armorial bookplate to front free endpaper).
