⁂ Read before the nascent Royal Society in 1660, the Discourse covers the germination, nutrition and growth of plants in chemical and mechanical terms. Digby's work was significant for its early recognition of the importance of air in plant life. Rare at auction, we cannot trace a copy since 2000.
