Epitome compendiosaq[ue] introductio in libros arithmeticos divi Severini Boetii, adiecto familiari commentario dilucidata; Introductio annotationibus explanata, sex libris distincta. Liber de quadratura circuli, liber de cubicatione spherae; perspectivae introductio; Praxis numerandi certis quibusdam regulis constricta; Insuper Astronomicon, title ruled in red and neatly remargined, numerous woodcut diagrams, various ink ownership inscriptions (most to front endpaper) and bookplate, a2 small paper repair to fore-margin foot, final leaf (o8) with paper repairs to corners, some spotting and minor soiling, mainly marginal, eighteenth-century russia by Roger Payne, gilt, repairs to spine and joints, [Adams F18], folio, Paris, H. Estienne and W. Hopyl, 1503.
*** First edition of this collection of important mathematical works, in an attractive Roger Payne binding. The individual works are all first editions with the exception of Lefèvre’s Epitome, of Boethius’ De arithmetica (first printed 1496) and an unattributed Opusculum de p[r]axi numerorum quod Algorismum vovant, actually the Algorismus of Sacrobosco (no earlier printing than this traced in auction records). Rare: seemingly with no other copies traced in auction records.
