*** Persian primer containing a grammar, sample dialogues and phrases, and a selection of Persian texts, with English translations. The first edition was published at Calcutta in 1795, followed by two more editions in 1799 and 1800. Francis Gladwin (d. ca. 1813) was one of the first three professors of Persian at the East India Company College at Fort William when it was established in 1800 and a founding member of the Asiatic Society of Bengal.
