Doves Press.- English Bible (The), containing the Old Testament & the New Translated out of the Original Tongues by Special Command of His Majesty King James the First, 5 vol., one of 500 sets on paper, printed in red and black with initials by Edward Johnston, light foxing to a few leaves at beginning and end in vol.1 (as often) and to a few in vol.2, engraved bookplate of Thomas Edward & Catharine Hodgkin, original limp vellum, by the Doves Bindery, spines titled in gilt, uncut, slight creasing to some spines, [Tidcombe DP6], folio, Doves Press, 1903-05.
⁂ A superb set of the only folio printed by Cobden-Sanderson and the magnum opus of the Doves Press, described by Stanley Morison as representing "the finest achievement of modern English printing". Four Centuries of Fine Printing
