A Poem], presentation copy from the author to his wife, interleaved with occasional pencil sketches or annotations, oval portrait of the author mounted on front free endpaper, second work ?lacking half-title or a dedication f., both works lacking advertisements, occasional spotting, lightly browned, contemporary panelled calf, richly gilt, that of spine in compartments dulled, corners little worn, rubbed, particularly the spine, 8vo, William Tweedie, 1853-1852.
⁂ Barmby (1820-1881), utopian socialist thinker, feminist, and supporter of Robert Owen. His second wife was Ada Marianne Shepherd. The presentation inscription reads 'A.S., from, GB., "Orate pro pittore"' (front free endpaper).
