Autograph poem concerning Locke.- Locke (John) An Abridgment of Mr. Locke's Essay concerning human understanding, [edited by John Wynne], some spotting or foxing, lightly browned, contemporary calf, gilt spine in compartments and with red morocco label, corners little worn, rubbed and scuffed, large 12mo, Edinburgh, Printed for Alexander Donaldson, 1778.
⁂ An excellent association copy. The Rev. Bryan Waller's (1765-1842) copy, who has penned a short verse in praise of Locke to the front free endpaper, initialled and dated 1785. This was published in his 1796 collection Poems on Several Occasions under the title ‘Lines Written in Wynne’s Abridgement of Locke.’ ('B. Waller, Lancaster, 1784', ink inscription to head of title).
