Gill (Eric) An album of c.50 wood-engravings, on various hand-made papers, 13 signed or initialled by the artist, most tipped onto album leaves, original morocco with "Eric Gill Engravings" lettered on spine and upper cover, uncut, 4to, 1928-40.
⁂ A very good album, covering various subjects with numerous designs for bookplates and cards. Highlights include an initialled example of the artist's bookplate (Physick 504), Surrexit Alleluia (661) inscribed "Love from Eric & Mary", an example of Tree and Dog with the flames printed in red (733, citing this example), Mother and Stars in the Moon (916, citing this example, no copy in the artist's personal file), pencil and scraperboard designs by the artist for the bookplate of Wilma Mairi Cawdor and Chalice and Dove (993, citing this example, seemingly the artist's final wood-engraving, no copy in the artist's personal file).
