Middle East.- Beausobre (Isaac de) Histoire Critique de Manichée et du Manicheisme, 2 vol., first edition, title of vol.1 in red & black with engraved vignette of Sheldonian Theatre, vol.2 with woodcut device, 2 engraved head-pieces by B.Picart, woodcut initials and ornaments, a few odd spots, occasional light browning, mostly to vol.2 (also light marginal water-staining to a few leaves), short paper flaw tear to upper margin of 4S3 in vol.2, attractive contemporary calf with triple gilt fillet, spines gilt in compartments with red & tan labels, a little rubbed and slightly stained, minor repairs to heads of spines, [Brunet I, 723 "ouvrage très-estimé"], 4to, Amsterdam, J.Frederic Bernard, 1734-39.
