Gynaecology & Midwifery.- [Notes relating to Gynaecology & Midwifery], manuscript in at least a couple of hands, c.95pp., excluding blanks, [?Edinburgh], [c.1784 and later] bound after Smellie (William) A Set of Anatomical Tables, with Explanations, and an Abridgement of the Practice of Midwifery, 39 (?of 40) engraved plates, occasional contemporary marginalia, offsetting, a few neat tears, Edinburgh, Printed for Charles Elliot, 1780, together 2 works in 1 vol., occasional spotting, lightly browned, antique style calf, gilt spine in compartments and with modern but to style morocco label, rubbed, 8vo

*** The manuscript includes 'Of floodings & abortions'; 'Delivery of the placenta'; 'Hemorich in twin cases'; 'Of difficult labours'; and 'Oration delivered at the 11 anniversary of the Hunterian Society Feb 11/30 by J[ohn] T[ricker] Conquest' (male midwife and physician).

Provenance: F.H.C. (ink initials to front free endpaper); 'Bought at Edinburgh in 1784' (ink inscription to head of title, seemingly in the same hand as the first part of the manuscript).
