Gill (Eric) Female nude, seated (Physick 939), wood-engraving, signed by the artist in lower margin and inscribed "Love to Betty, EG" at foot and "from drawing done at Salies-de-Béarn, 1927" at head, surface creasing to image, heavier to upper and lower margins, image 228 x 140mm., sheet 280 x 190mm., 1937.
⁂ Rare proof of this illustration for the artist's Twenty-Five Nudes. Gill possibly gifted examples of his engravings from this series to his models, an example of Female nude, lying (Physick 958), inscribed to Joanna, was offered at Bonhams (4th March, 2015, lot 40).
