Military.- [Cruso (John)] Militarie Instructions for the Cavallrie..., first edition, additional engraved title, 16 plates, of which 9 double-page and 4 folding, bookplate to verso of additional title, one plate with small hole, some light browning or spotting, but overall a good and wide-margined copy, contemporary speckled calf, rebacked preserving original gilt backstrip in compartments, second compartment with morocco label, third with gilt shelfmark, upper cover with central gilt intertwined initials "XS" surmounted by a coronet ?of George Capell-Coningsby, 5th Earl of Essex (1757-1839), some rubbing and light wear to joints and extremities, portion of old manuscript on vellum used as binder's waste, [STC 6099], folio, Cambridge, Printed by the printers to the Universitie, 1632.
