Royal binding.- Book of Common Prayer (The), and Administration of the Sacraments ..., ex-Hampton Court Chapel copy, TLs from the press officer at Buckingham Palace loosely inserted, ruled in red, double-column, 2D4 with slight fraying to bottom edge, light staining to top edge (not affecting text), occasional light spotting, contemporary black morocco, King George II's coat of arms to board centres, "Common Prayer Book 1746" partially faded in blind to upper cover, "Hampton Court Chappell" in gilt to upper cover partially obscuring title given in blind, wide outer wave gilt border with floral motifs, 6 raised spine bands, cypher of King George II in gilt to spine compartments, mostly lacking from spine head, now with old repair, rubbed and scuffed, folio, by Joseph Bentham, 1745.

⁂ Provenance: Pencil note to front free endpaper verso reads, "This Prayer Book was formerly in the Irish House of Commons - and was the one from which the officiating Prelat[e] usually read the Morning Prayers. The other copy (for there were two) is now in the Provosts ?House in Trinity College, Dublin.
This copy was removed to the Chapel Royal, and was ?purchased from ... by the present owner with some other ... that belonged to the Kin.[g's] Royal Court. It was then used at Hampton Court Chapel."

TLs from the press officer at Buckingham Palace dated 2003, stating that "unfortunately, we do not have the necessary expertise here to shed any light on the eighteenth century Hampton Court Chapel Royal prayer book held by your family for several generations."
