Description

Tauvry (Daniel) A Treatise of Medicines, first English edition, advertisement leaf at beginning and 2 at end, endpapers with ink notes, some other ink annotations and markings, some marginal water-staining at beginning and end, contemporary panelled calf, extremities worn, [Wing T247], 8vo, Printed for Richard Wellington [&c.], 1700.

⁂ Tauvry died in 1701 at the early age of 31, the result, it is said, of a furious argument with a colleague about the circulation of the blood in a foetus. His temperament was tactfully described in Fontenelle's funeral oration as 'vif' (lively!).
