Consul Joseph Smith.- Bibliotheca Smithiana. A catalogue of the curious, elegant, and very valuable library of Joseph Smith...Which will be sold by auction, by S. Baker and G. Leigh, ... on Monday, January the 25th, 1773, and the thirteen following days, half-title with French version of general title verso, cancelled library stamp of Trinity College, Cambridge to lower corner of English title and p.84, a few scattered spots, modern half calf by Brown of Dorchester, [De Ricci pp.54-55], 8vo, no printer, [1773].

⁂ Anthony Hobson's copy of the rare catalogue of Smith's second collection, the contents of which ‘closely resemble the first library but on a smaller scale’ (Stuart Morrison, ‘Records of a Bibliophile’, The Book Collector, Spring 1994).

Provenance: ‘For Dr: Wilkinson.’ (contemporary ink inscription to half-title); Anthony Hobson (1921-2014), book auctioneer, book historian (particularly bindings) and bibliophile (armorial bookplate).
