Africa.- Lafreri School (Italian, 16th century) Four maps of North Africa, including Tunis, including Bolognini Zaltieri's 'Benigni Lettori, per rappresentarui piu particulari della Citta di Tunesi', a map attributed to Claudio Duchetti, showing the imaginary siege of Tripoli by King Philip II of Spain, Lafreri's 'Disegno de la Goletta', showing the fort of Goletta, shortly after construction and prior to the Turkish Siege of Tunis in 1574, and a Lafreri School map 'Fortezza di Gerbi', Tunisia, engraved maps, on various laid papers, each sheet approx. 360 x 505 mm (14 1/4 x 19 3/4 in), one with some margins restored, another with large carefully repaired tear, all with minor marginal surface dirt and browning, all unframed, [mid-to-late 16th century] (4)
