⁂ The first lists the articles to apply to the army of 16,000 men formed by the "Covenanters" and commanded by Alexander Leslie, 1st Earl of Leven (c.1580-1661). The third was a response to attacks on the episcopal party in Scotland by the journalist and pamphleteer George Ridpath.
